Mom of 6 Emergency eviction moving expenses
Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My 6 children and I moved to Pittsfield Maine back in April after my ex-husband fought me long and hard in court and was granted full possession of our formal marital home after our divorce. My children and I were pretty much homeless at that time until an opportunity opened up for us to move to Pittsfield, ME to a rental property. Soon after moving here in April, our current landlords decided that they are going to sell the property from up under us, even as the winter is approaching. We begged and pleaded with the landlords for more time or at least until our lease agreement ended but they refused to wait that long. They have been urgently trying to sell the home since July but we have not been able to find anything that is large enough or affordable enough for the size of our family. They have even used forceful illegal methods to try and get us out of the home, like shutting off our electricity back in November. There are certain laws that protect us in Maine however, they are still able to sell their home as they please and there is nothing that we can do to prevent it at this point. We are now facing harsh winters in Maine and we still have not been able to find a place to rent that is large enough and affordable enough for our family. My vehicle is also breaking down on me and I had to come out pocket a few times already to have it repaired in the last 3 months and it’s been a strain on me financially.
Furthermore, the children and I had to leave alot of our possession behind when we left the formal marital property back in March because we didn’t have enough time and space in the moving truck to take everything with us at that time. We lost a lot of valuable things in the process and later found out that my ex-husband trashed it all after he took over the home. My landlords gave us some of their furniture to keep when we first moved here back in April, only to change their minds out of spite and take it all back again. Therefore, we are also in need of furniture and other household items. I have been renting a storage unit to store the belongings we do have until we find a place to stay. I have also been renting furniture from Aaron’s so that we can all have beds to sleep in. I work very hard to provide for my kids but this has all still been very draining financially and even emotionally.
On top of it all, my elderly dad who is a Marine veteran, legally blind and disabled is in great need of my help and care. We are hoping to move somewhere together so that I can be there to give him more help and support. He currently lives in the Bronx, New York and is willing to relocate so that we can be together. We desperately need help to cover moving expenses for my dad and myself so that we can make this transition smoothly and finally settle in a new place. We have to move by January 1st and we still have not been able to find a place to live so my children and I will need a place to stay temporarily until we find a place. The family shelters are all full here in our town and hotels are very pricey. However, there are options for us to stay at an air bnb or even a motel temporarily but we really need the help to make that happen. I am currently in the middle of a court battle with my children’s father over custody of our children. If I don’t find I place to stay with my kids I am afraid that the family court will order my children live with their dad and give him primary custody. I love my children so much and I don’t want to lose access to my children over this matter. We are praying for a miracle so that we can still be together during this transition and have a roof over our heads during the harsh winter months. If you can find it in your heart to make a small donation towards our move and spread the word we would greatly appreciate it. A little can go a long way and we thank you in advance.
