Mom With Advanced Stage Terminal Cancer
Donation protected
My mom was diagnosed August 2021 with Stage 3-4 terminal lung cancer. She has undergone two rounds of chemo/radiation, one round of immunotherapy and as a last resort is currently enrollment in a Phase II clinical trial. The cancer has metastasized to her liver, brain, skull and possible spread to her spine last week. The Oncologist has explained to me that patients in her condition likely live another 1-2 months.
I have been the sole financial support for her but am currently drowning in expenses. I’m grateful to have minimal bills of my own, my typical employment as a maritime union employee and snowboard coach has been good enough to cover everything up until now. I’ve just completed a seasonal job with Alaska Fish & Game but that contract is over and I’m in search of another job locally here in Aleknagik, Alaska. I need financial help and do not have family members to rely on during this time. A breakdown of the collective expenses are below.
Mom General Expenses: (Rural Alaska rates)
- House Electric/Gas = $350/month
- Wi-Fi = $150/month
- Food = Over $600/month
- Vehicle gas (nearest store is 26 miles away) = $100 per tank
- Mom rural cell phone plan = $50/month
- Nephew plane ticket here = $700
Anchorage Storage Units: (At risk of seizure due to delinquency. Cleaning out and ending usage next month.)
- Olympic memorabilia, career medals, uniforms, special items = $150/month + 6 months delinquent
- Personal items of my moms, nephews and myself = $150/month + 6 months delinquent
My own expenses:
Live-aboard boat slip fee = $400/month
Cell phone = $80/month
Boat/vehicle Insurance = $140/month
There have been additional costs of living such as clothing, shampoo, etc. She has needed small things like comfortable clothes for chemo/recovery. These expenses are smaller but at this point I’m having trouble making sure she has what she needs.
Thank you for reading this, its very difficult to ask for help. I appreciate the prayers, sentimental or financial support. ❤️
