Mom's Senior Care

My name is Robert Woo, and this appeal is to raise money for my 90 year old mother, Margie Woo. She is in a wonderful, loving Senior Care Home in Lynnwood, Washington. The crises is that there is only enough money for May and June at the Senior Care Home that has made her so happy. My plan was to get mom on Medicaid as her money ran out. However, I found out on April 9 that she is not eligible for medicaid. My mother has dementia, and requires full care, moving, eating, bathing, toileting.
My mother was born in Nanking, China, August 5, 1925. She married my father, James Woo, when she was nineteen years of age. My father was a fighter pilot, part of the American trained Flying Tigers, fighting for ten years against first the Japanese invasion, then the communist takeover. In 1953 my parents with I and my older brother Daniel immigrated to America under a special senate amendment voted specifically to allow our family to immigrate. We became US citizens.
In January 2019 I moved my mother to the 1st and Best Senior Care group home in Lynnwood, Washington. Mom has become so much more responsive, and much happier since being cared for at the Senior Care Home. When I saw the change in her happiness I realized how depressed and isolated mom was where she was before.
Sometime in 2016; my brother who looked over mom, and was trustee for my mother and her finances was slowly falling ill without any of us, including his wife and children and my brother, knowing. In the process my mother’s savings were devastated.
I have only enough money to pay for mom’s Senior Home through June. The cost of the home is $7,750 a month. I hope to raise $30,000, enough to pay for four more months and buy us some time and breathing room.
Reading the GoFundMe campaigns, I was so saddened by the trials that many good people endure. Our situation is not the worst, but still this is my mother, and I would be so, so grateful for the help. I’m almost 69, and working on restarting my business. But that will take time. Whatever help will be a miracle.
