Mom's health is in danger - help us fix our roof
We are a mother and daughter who desperately need some help.
We've had no choice but to live with a leaking roof for a long time now, but rainy season is hitting us hard and not only are the existing leaks getting worse, but new leaks are appearing.
Mary is a disabled senior with the most advanced stage of the lung disease COPD, which means she regularly struggles to breathe and is on oxygen 24/7. Leaks could introduce mold and mildew, which could cause 'exacerbation' - a flare-up that increases the severity of her symptoms and could lead to a hospital stay or worse. Even on normal days, taking care of herself is very difficult and requires live-in care. Charlene is the caregiver and can't leave the home to work, and has been unable to find remote work, so we're living off of Mary's relatively small social security income.
I've looked into professional roof repair, and for our area a basic repair is estimated to be at minimum near $900, and a more extreme fix could top out around $9000. Because the leaks are extensive, and ideally we'd also like to put some things in storage to protect them, I've set our goal right in the middle. We've been pinching pennies to try and solve this (and other) problems for some time, but can't currently come close.
Due to Mary's respiratory health being in jeopardy, we really need help to fix our roof as soon as possible. Any amount helps! And please, please share this. Our circle isn't very big and we've already had to rely on them more than we'd like.
