Moms Spinal Surgery Recovery Fund
Donation protected
Hello friends and family! My sister and I are trying to raise funds due to an unexpected medical emergency for our mother, Alma.
If you’ve ever spent any time with her, you’ve probably left with a very full belly and cheeks sore from laughter.
Our mom has always been the kind of person to treat you as if you were her own child or family member.
Born in Mexico and growing up with very little, she has worked incredibly hard to give us more than we could ever ask for.
The amount of love we have for her is immeasurable, she is a superwoman and has always loved us, and anyone we call a friend, unconditionally.
Recently our mom began losing motion in her legs/lower body, and while she was waiting for health insurance coverage, her condition quickly worsened.
As she lost the ability to walk and stand on her own, she took multiple falls and injuries while trying to move around her home.
This Tuesday she woke up with complete loss of motion in her lower body, and she was taken in an ambulance to the hospital.
Luckily they worked quickly and discovered a tumor on her spine.
She had emergency surgery on Wednesday morning and is thankfully in stable condition, though in quite a lot of pain.
She now has health insurance, but as we all know the health insurance system has many gaps that are difficult to fill.
My sister and I are overwhelmed at how to support our mom as she goes through physical therapy over the next few months to regain the ability to walk and stand.
She is self employed, therefore not qualifying for disability, and will not be able to work during the recovery period.
We are doing our best to support her, but as a preschool teacher and restaurant industry worker, our abilities are limited.
We want to help our mother keep her home and not have to stress about getting proper medical care during this time.
We know that many of us are feeling the impact of a recession, and likely tight on funds having just come out of the holiday season.
Even just sharing this fundraiser with your friends and family would mean so much to us.
Thank you
