Mom’s Therapy Costs

Dear Reader,

I hope you and your family are well. I'm reaching out to share a challenging situation our family is facing. My parents, who are originally from South Africa, came to the United States for a month-long visit on July 12th. Unfortunately, on July 24th, my mom fell seriously ill, leading us to rush her to Hospital.

After a prolonged wait in the hospital, her condition became critical, and she had to undergo brain surgery at Emory to relieve pressure on her brain. She spent over a month in the ICU and is now recovering at my home. However, being foreigners, my parents don't qualify for financial assistance or Medicaid/Medicare.

At this point, she requires essential therapy, which we can't afford without help. I've contacted several skilled nursing facilities, and the private pay cost is over $200 a day, excluding therapy services. We are seeking assistance to cover these therapy costs. Our ultimate plan is for her to return to South Africa where she has medical insurance and can receive ongoing care, but she needs to regain her health to make the journey.

In October, she has an appointment with a neurologist regarding the reattachment of part of her skull, and we hope to get clearance for her to fly. Your donation would be immensely appreciated in helping us provide the necessary care and support for her recovery.
