Mona, a Homeless Woman With M.S. degree in Industrial Engineering / Operations Research, Needs Your Help
Hi. I'm Mona. I live in a park near LAX airport in Los Angeles. I became homeless on Monday December 4th, 2017 when the place where i lived burned to rubble in the Thomas Fire. At that time I lived in the Upper Ojai. Four months later, my partner who i lived with for 8 years (Dan), died quite unexpectedly.
Dan's name was on all our documents regarding our residence so i was not eligible to collect various moneys associated with the fire, such as funds from FEMA / Red.Cross etc.
I was one of the fire victims who slipped through the cracks. I need some help getting back on my feet.
Shortly after Dan died, i moved to LA in my car with my dog Johnnie. Johnnie died in July 2019 and i lost my car shortly after that time.
Luckily, I met Pete and fell in love at first sight on September 7, 2019. Today, Pete and I live together in the park.
While I would love to begin working immediately, it does not seem like a practical option until i am a housed person once again. The logistics involved with simply showing up on=time and showered each day would likely be overwhelming if not impossible.
Once I am back indoors, I am confident that I can resume working after not too much time.
Pete has many issue with most of the joints throughout his body (knees, feet, and shoulders all need surgery). Once inside with a suitable place to recuperate, Pete can begin to have the series of surgeries done, so that (hopefully) he can live his days with substantially less pain.
We plan to use any donations received to pay for housing; healthy, healing foods; utility bills; possibly a little doggie if we are lucky. We hope to raise enough money to pay 6 months rent & utilities. We should be able to stabilize during that time and become self=sufficient, productive members of society.
