Money for Pediatric Heart Transplant Families
Donation protected
TL;DR: This is a fundraiser for the Pediatric Heart Transplant department of the Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital in NYC.
Hello! Chris Packard here. At 6 months old, I was diagnosed with Cardiomyopothy. It took quite some time to find a hospital that would do the surgery - Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital, located in NYC, was up to the task. On April 7th, 1992, I received a heart transplant; and that makes this a big year. As of April 7th, 2022, I will have had my new heart for a total of 30 years. In honor of the event, I've decided to give back, both to myself and the institution at which it occured - and I'm bringing you along for the ride.
From now until April 12th, 2022, this GoFundMe will be open. This GoFundMe will collect money for the Columbia-Presbyterian Hospital's Pediatric Heart Transplant fund! This goes towards various needs associated with needing this procedure, including money for parking, housing in the area for the parents when needed, and other costs. Please donate if you can! If not, that's okay too! I'm glad you're here.
I chose to do it this way because there was not a way to have the funds go directly to the Pediatric Heart Transplant fund. Once this closes on April 12th, I will collect the funds (minus the ~2.9% that GoFundMe takes) and send them directly to the fund in question. I will be posting proof on here in whatever makes the most sense.
Thank you for reading through this - I have such a love for this place and want to give back to the place that gave me life. I appreciate your time. Happy days :)
