Help us see our Preemie in Antrim Hospital
Donation protected

She has a severe brain bleed on one side and a minor one in the other that she was diagnosed with within 48hrs after being born. Within 2weeks of being born, Evie got a severe Staph infection in her blood from a pic line. She was reintubated twice during this time due to struggling to keep breathing. Her infection was confusing doctors as it was proving resilient to the normal antibiotics used for Staphycoccol. She was on Vancomycin for over 2 weeks constantly and also placed on 3 different antibiotics one after the other until they found the correct one. They rescanned her brain nd heart to check for issues- as infection markers came back from a lumbar puncture. Her heart showed slight swelling on one side and her brain showed fluid building up. Evie was also diagnosed with a PDA in her heart. Slowly with time she started to get better.
Our beautiful baby girl spent her first Christmas in hospital in HDU in Antrim Hospital. She is one of the few children this year who got to sit in Santa's lap however she spent it away from family in an incubator on oxygen. As of today she is now more than double her birth weight, her PDA is slowly starting to close on its own, her brain is showing no fluid on it and she has been breathing on her own for more than 24hours! She has amazed us all and is our little warrior princess. We have visited her every single day. However today on the way to hospital, our car broke. The engine malfunctioned! We now have no way to visit our beautiful baby girl in hospital! As much as we hate having to set this up, the thought of our baby girl alone in hospital for the foreseeable future breaks our hearts more! We understand people have their own struggles and that 2020 has been an extremely tough year for every single person, however if you can spare anything at all to help us get our car fixed and to be able to visit our beautiful fighter in hospital, we would be forever in your debt!
I wish you all a Happy New Year and thank everyone who spares anything to help us visit our Evie Hope Rankin.
Where there is life, there is Hope.
