Funeral Expenses for Monica Muthoni Hill (nee Kimani)

To say we are devastated by the sudden passing of our dear sister and friend Monica Muthoni Hill (nee Kimani) is an understatement. Please pray for David and Monica's lovely boys; Jonathan and Daniel, the wider family and the many people who were honoured to be her friends.

There's now an urgent need to raise funds to give a well-deserved, warm send off to our beloved Monica. All the funds raised will be used to help with costs of the funeral and burial arrangements.

Background:

Monica sadly and suddenly passed away on Friday the 27 of September 2024.

This was after a successful bowel cancer surgery in August where she was declared cancer free and advised to have chemotherapy to reduce the chances of recurrence.

She had her first session of Chemo on Wednesday 25th September and started getting an adverse reaction in the early hours of Thursday, initially just nausea, she then got admitted to the Royal Surrey hospital where her Chemo team are based, and there was confidence that they just needed to isolate the source of a likely infection. All tests and scans came back negative but a concern about her blood pressure being on the low side persisted. We were informed she would transfer to ICU to get a central line in as her veins were notoriously difficult to get. There was general confidence that once this was done the symptoms would rapidly resolve and she would be swiftly out of hospital and back on the Chemo plan.

However once the line was in the blood pressure did not improve and then she rapidly deteriorated. Lengthy attempts were made to revive her, she was intubated, shocked with a defibrillator, and then the team continued to give her chest compressions to try and restart her heart all of which failed.

As you can imagine, we are overwhelmed and dealing with a lot, this is why we are reaching out for your financial assistance. We will also appreciate all messages and well wishes, condolences etc.
