Monika needs life saving brain surgery

Monika has been overwhelmed with all the support from sharers and donors that began 4 days ago! She is in awe and is unbelievably thankful you all care so much! With all your help, it has made her urgent surgery need a reality.

We are still waiting on the fee for the anaesthetist for the total amount needed but this amount almost covers the current estimated costs for her surgery!! This is FANTASTIC!

Our Monika recently gave birth to her baby boy G and was preparing to be a first time mum. It was at this point Monika began having complications with severe high blood pressures, emergency team assistance and ultimately ending in having strokes.

Soon after she was diagnosed by the medical teams with a rare disease called Moya Moya.

Without surgery, the majority of individuals with moyamoya disease will experience mental decline and multiple strokes because of the progressive narrowing of arteries. Without treatment, moyamoya disease can be fatal as the result of intracerebral hemorrhage (bleeding within the brain).

Multiple scans and tests found that she has suffered more than 8 mild strokes that were undiagnosed whilst she was admitted to the local Intensive Care Unit.

Monika’s loving partner and both families have helped her care for her new baby boy while she attends not only appointments for her own health but also for baby G.

Bring forward Monika’s story to 13/10/2023, where she has been informed that she requires life saving brain surgery to prevent Moyamoya cruel effects from taking this new mum’s life.

Neurosurgery is due to take place in November 2023 but at the great financial cost of OVER $50,000 Australian Dollars!
