Monkstown FC Supporters Appeal
Donation protected
We hope you are keeping well during these strange and uncertain times. The onset of the COVID-19 pandemic put paid to our season both on and off the field. Fortunately our men’s 1st XV had secured promotion well in advance, providing the welcome promise of a return to Saturday rugby in Sandymount when circumstances allow, while the re - emergence of our thriving minis section gives us great encouragement for the future.
The shortened season has however had a serious impact on the clubs financial circumstances. We have been unable to complete a number of planned fundraisers as well as being without income from the bar. Furthermore our ability to call on sponsors is also challenged, as they themselves deal with their own difficult business circumstances. This perfect storm has occurred at a time when many of the costs for the season had already been incurred or committed.
The result for the club is that we are finishing the season significantly in the red and face re-opening in poor financial circumstances. It is with this in mind that we have taken the initiative to set up a ‘Go Fund Me’ appeal and to reach out to you as our members, friends and broader community supporters both near and further afield to kindly ask you for your help with a donation, large or small.
The proceeds of the appeal will be used to support the activities of all playing grades in the club, for the up keep and maintenance of the club facilities, the ground works necessary to maintain the playing surfaces, COVID related hygiene equipment and finally the undertaking of necessary works to re-open the clubhouse in due course.
We don’t want anyone in any way to feel obliged to contribute - we recognise and understand that COVID-19 is having a devastating impact on many and as a result their own personal circumstances are very difficult already.
Our ask of you, where you can, is two fold
1. Please contribute generously to the fundraising appeal
2. Please share the campaign onwards to help us maximise our reach while we are physically apart
We thank you for your support and look forward to seeing you all down in the club soon, be it at the bar, supporting or on the pitch!
We will continue to update you as the new season approaches via our website, Twitter, Instagram, various Whatsapp groups and through our email list.
Many Thanks
