Monnie Needs Your Help

Hello, Monnie is our lovely 2 year old rescue dog that we homed on the 27th April 2023. When Monnie first arrived, she was completely shut down, scared of everything and did not leave our room for two weeks.

Monnie now is the most loving, loyal, beautiful dog and over this last year, has come on leaps and bounds. She is a totally different dog and we love her more than anything in this world. Her confidence and resilience is something to be admired.

With support from our behaviourist a few months ago, they identified Monnie had a significantly altered gait and we noticed that unfortunately Monnie wasn’t presenting like a healthy, energetic, 2 year old dog. We then later went to a physiotherapist who identified Monnie had a lot of pain around the hips/ lumbar spine region, which then actioned us to visit the vets. Monnie then started on pain relief which she has stayed on for the last couple months.

Monnie recently had an x-ray on 12th February 2024 where they identified Monnie’s left and right hips are in extremely bad condition and both hips dislocate on movement. Inevitability, without treatment, Monnie’s hips will get worse overtime and she will stay in significant amounts of pain.

Monnie is requiring a total hip replacement on both hips, which will be an extremely high cost. The vet has advised us that if Monnie has a left total hip replacement, then this would help reduce dislocations on the right hip quite a lot.

As a family, we are absolutely devastated and our insurance policy is not enough to cover the full cost to even get one of Monnie’s hips operated on.

Monnie has made a massive difference to our lives. All we have ever wanted was to give her a good life and that is why we adopted her.

All we ask is that if anyone has anything they can donate, whether that be 50p or £10, we would be unbelievably grateful. We just want to give her the best life possible.
