Monstrous

“Monstrous” is a play devised from Frankenstein by Mary Shelly. Asking the question of “What if Frankenstein made his monster a mate?”. This show seeks to investigate and critique societies expectations of women’s performances and the violence and dehumanisation they and their bodies experience as a result of patriarchy. This piece will have a message of perseverance, resistance, and hope, while simultaniously deconstructing societally embedded misogynistic tropes, and giving personhood and autonomy to a character previously only known as the female mate that Frankenstein destroyed. The piece is a student led capstone project, that wil debut at the Samuel Beckett Theatre in Trinity College Dublin November 13-15th at 6:30pm.
