Montauk To Manhattan-130 Miles For Mental Health
Tax deductible
On January 7, 2023, I will run from Montauk to Manhattan to raise funds for The Long Island Crisis Center, a nonprofit that provides 24/7, free, high-quality, confidential, and non-judgemental programs and services to support and empower Long Islanders at critical times in their lives.
This will be my second year running for Mental Health Awareness and the Crisis Center. After accomplishing this run last year, I was honored as their Person Of The Year for 2022. Since then, I have learned much more about the team, the community, and myself.
Nearly 1 in every five adults experiences some form of mental illness. Now is no better time to bring awareness to this medical condition. Together as a community, we can do this!
I am not a specialist in the field, and I can only speak from personal experience. Depression, suicidal thoughts, and anxiety have always been a struggle for me. As I grew, so did my mental issues. One of the ways I overcame my thoughts and feelings was by running. There is something special about it for me.
Not only has running allowed me to connect with a fantastic community of people, I now know that I am never alone. This run is my way of bringing awareness to something that affects many of us and is often not discussed.
The run will begin at 4 A.M. Saturday in Montauk (Lighthouse) and finish in Manhattan (Central Park). The route can be found here. https://connect.garmin.com/modern/course/86489165 Anyone who wants to join on the run is more than welcome to hop in at the designated areas provided on the Aid Station Sheet. Here is a list of the Aid Stations. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1akWJlstq_dr5Iasu_EeVh2-T5An376LFLAZHRb07Aks/edit?usp=sharing
