Monty Thomas Medical Expenses

Donation protected
Monty has spent his life providing for his family and serving others. Now, he needs us. Monty Thomas is a faithful servant of God, a loving husband of 52 years, a devoted father & grandfather, and an entrepreneur who’s appliance and repair service has served Elgin and surrounding counties for over the past 30 years. For 25 years, he traveled with the Gospel Mourners of Taylor, Texas and participated in live broadcasts at KTAE 1260 AM as a guitarist and singer.

On December 8th, a brain tumor was found on Monty's CT scan.  When the family received the news they were shocked.  They took the Doctors advice to go home and enjoy the holidays and report for surgery after the beginning of the year.  January 5th marked the day of Montys surgery and it was successful and 60% of what we now know is Ependymoma, brain cancer, was removed. Exactly 3 weeks after the surgery Monty was able to SING and remembered the words to Amazing Grace!  Although the surgery was a major step forward, it left him unable to move the left leg, so he now needs assistance for daily activities.  Since 40% of the cancer remains, doctors tell us the radiation, chemo and physical therapy will be needed for at least the next 5 weeks to rid his body of this disease.  Insurance has helped with the initial costs and they were able to make sure he received treatment after the initial surgery.  This next phase is not covered by insurance and will cost $369 per day.  As the sole provider for his family, this leaves a huge gap for the household.
Rev. T.L. Garner remembers when he was just five years old and his dad sang and traveled with Monty: “We were in an old station wagon and had just left the church. We were about 11 miles out and it was pitch black. I started crying, because the headlights went out and we couldn't see anything, and we had a long way to go. Monty said, “Little Garner, everything is going to be alright.” And it was, because they found a flashlight. They stuck that flashlight in the window and we made it home!...Monty said "God held that flashlight.”
Let’s tell Monty that everything’s gonna be alright. Help us take care of his treatment costs and ensure the additional weight of mounting bills is not felt during this difficult time.
