Morgan Johnson's Medical Journey

Dear friends and lifelong community of Morgan Johnson:

Let me start with how we got to where we are today and the current status on Morgan's medical condition. Last week Morgan was in upstate New York and experienced a skiing accident which resulted in him finding out he had a fractured femur. On Thursday (2/22) he underwent urgent orthopedic surgery to place a titanium rod in his leg. However, a setback occurred early Friday morning when Morgan suffered a cardiac arrest. The cause of the cardiac arrest is still unknown at this time. He was stabilized and transferred to a larger hospital that is closer to home to receive a higher level of care.

As of now, Morgan remains in a critical stable condition in the intensive care unit under a medically induced coma. His family, including his parents, brother, and sister-in-law, have been by his side daily, offering love and support. The medical team is carefully monitoring his progress, although there have been challenges as he experiences seizure-like symptoms during the process of weaning off sedatives. The waiting is excruciating, but we are giving medications the time to work and his brain time to heal from cardiac arrest. As his friend told me over text "The desire to see progress and the need for time to do it's work all while trying to be helpful when you can't: it's a thin space." Despite these obstacles, we continue to hold onto hope for Morgan's FULL and COMPLETE recovery.

Although the journey ahead may still hold uncertainties, we are embracing the answers that come our way while patiently awaiting the rest.

The Doctor's update this afternoon (2/27) outlined the care goals for Morgan this week, emphasizing the gradual tapering off of medications to evaluate his current status. This is a slow process and it will take time to see how he responds.

During this difficult time, we kindly ask for your thoughts and prayers. Please join us in praying for three key things: firstly, for Morgan to wake up from his coma; secondly, for no lasting effects on his brain; and thirdly, for his young son, Wilder. Your support and prayers are greatly appreciated as we navigate through this challenging period together.
