Morocco appeal for El Haouz region
Donation protected
Following a call for solidarity in response to the devastation caused by the recent earthquake in Morocco on September 8th, I have initiated a fundraising campaign to provide assistance to a local organisation, Insaf.
Insaf is a certified organisation with over two decades of experience in rural areas of the High Atlas mountains, focusing on supporting young women and their families and establishing strong ties with remote regions in affected areas.
The ongoing impacts of this earthquake are going to exacerbate conditions for historically marginalised rural Amazigh regions of El Haouz, Chichawa, and Taroudant.
All funds raised will directly support Insaf's appeal to provide earthquake victims with temporary shelter, food, clean water, and emergency medical care.
Our goal is to raise $5,000, and I will provide updates on our progress.
How will funds get to Insaf?
I've created an Australian-based GoFundMe to facilitate donations from Australian bank accounts for disaster victims. As the GoFundMe platform does not cater to transferring AUD to MAD (directly into Insaf's account), I will do an international transfer once we reach the goal. I'll make sure this is all documented.
Why Insaf?
Having lived and worked in Morocco, Insaf was suggested as a trusted organisation who has deep connections to the affected areas by friends and colleagues who live and work in the region.
