Morocco Earthquake Emergency Relief Fund

As-Salaamu Alaykum, On September 8th at approximately 11pm, Morocco was hit with a 7 magnitude earthquake. The epicentre was in the surrounding areas of Marrakesh, however the earthquake was felt throughout most major cities and villages in Morocco as far south as Agadir, spanning to places such as Casablanca, Rabat, and Fes. The devastation is insurmountable, with a high casualty rate over 2,000 that is climbing by the hour. Currently, Moroccan forces have been mobilised for search and rescue, but hundreds of people are displaced and thousands missing, without resources to provide for the rebuilding of their lives. We are aiming to raise money in order to directly benefit the effected local Moroccans. All donations will given directly to the Moroccan people in need in order to support their survival and pay for their necessities such as shelter, food, transportation and clothing. Funds will be used to purchase material donations for local drop-off points. Material donations will be distributed by local contacts on the ground. Who I am: My name is Hajar Abusief. I am located in Hoboken, NJ, and a student at New York University. I am Moroccan citizen and national, and have spent so much of my life there. I am doing my best to help my community and people, because in times of need all we can do is come together.
