Morocco Earthquake - Help us rebuild homes

Salam aleykoum & Hello, it’s Maryam here. I am originally from the UK. I currently live between UK and Morocco and I work with Moroccan artisans and cooperatives. 

This is my dear Moroccan friend and colleague of 8+ years, Zohra’s, village not far from the epicentre of the earthquake that hit Morocco on Friday 8th September night. Her family have lost everything. Thank God الحمد الله no lives lost.

We are hoping, with your help, to raise these funds to help them rebuild safe homes to with the imminent arrival of winter God willing إن شاء الله

After the rare occurrence of the earthquake registering 6.8 on the Richter scale on the evening of Friday 8 September, the people of the beautiful Kingdom of Morocco need our support.

Alhamdulillah Thank God the artisans and their families are safe and well. Despite losing everything in the quake, they are alive.

As you’ll see from the images from Zohra, my dear friend and colleague of 8+ years, the traditional houses in the mountain towns and villages closest to the epicentre have been completely demolished.

Zohra’s family is located in one of the most affected regions, Taroudant Province, Souss-Massa. Her cousins have lost everything. Possessions, basic supplies and homes. The children are deeply impacted and increasingly vulnerable.

Life in these mountains is tough going at the best of times. Let alone with the destruction of the earthquake and Winter just a few short months away.

Together with your help, Zohra and I are hoping to raise funds to build 2-3 new, safe dwellings for the most vulnerable families.

As much as you can donate is greatly received InshaAllah God willing. We pray that everything we help with goes far to protect and rebuild a safe place for these people.

The money will be delivered directly to Zohra who will distribute to those in need as and when the time is right to build sustainable new homes God willing إن شاء الله
