I met Janelle while waiting for our kids at school when they were in elementary school. I don't remember how or when we started talking as we waited but we started a pick-up-time based friendship that eventually became an occasional texting friendship.

 

Her husband Paul has had many medical issues that they have dealt with over the years but recently, Janelle has been posting updates about their struggles. After reading her most recent post (some of it copied below), I asked if they would let me start a Go Fund Me for them and they (somewhat reluctantly) agreed. Although I don't know her or Paul well, I can see their determination, and their love for each other and their daughter and I know Janelle's friendliness from the school meetings. They would greatly appreciate any amount you can give to help. All money donated will go toward medical expenses and other related costs.

 

 

Paul was scheduled for oral surgery to remove the teeth that are infected/ causing abscesses and led to Paul being in the hospital on antibiotics, and is still taking antibiotics for due to the infection spreading to his blood (toxic shock), that could easily result in death if unchecked.

That was scheduled for the 17th but the surgery has been REMOVED due to Medicare REFUSING to pay for ANY of it, quoting that it's an elective surgery (aka not needed). Medicare refuses anything oral/dental unless the patient is on their deathbed and even then they often reject it.

They expect Paul to come up with a little over 17,000 UPFRONT before the surgery. The cost is mainly due to it being done in the hospital OR setting for safety, as no oral surgeon will touch him in an office or clinic setting due to the risk/liability.
