-------

When American forces left Afghanistan, Sayed Mosawi and his family were suddenly in mortal danger. Sayed, a police officer in a senior role before the Taliban took over, worked closely with American forces. This put him and his entire family’s lives in imminent danger.

Sayed, his wife, Gulsom, their five children, ages 8-19, and Sayed’s disabled brother, fled to Iran. From there, they obtained visas for Brazil, where they were given shelter in a refugee camp. Anxious to continue to the US, Sayed and Salar (the 2nd oldest son) made the journey northward, crossing into the US from Mexico and requesting asylum.

This means that Gulsom, Sayed’s brother, and four of their children, are still in Brazil waiting to reunite.

Thanks to a program called the Welcome Corps, Americans are able to sponsor refugees in need of safe haven in America. CLUE is assisting a Private Sponsor Group (Group Leader: Liz Bar-El) that is willing to sponsor the rest of the family to enter the US as refugees through this program. That’s where you come in.

The Welcome Corps requires that we raise $15,000 in order to sponsor them. At the absolute least, we need to raise $8,700 before we can submit an application.

Any amount you can give will help reunite and save this family. The Mosawi family has gone on a brave journey to ensure their survival. Now it’s our job to help them reach the final destination.

About CLUE:

As Clergy and Laity United for Economic Justice, we educate, organize, and mobilize faith leaders and community members to accompany workers and immigrants in their struggle for good jobs, dignity, and justice.

All proceeds from this campaign will be used for the support of the Mosawi family.
