Moser Cabin Clean-up and Rebuild
Donation protected
On October 14, 2020, our parents Patty and Steve Moser were devastated by the loss of our family cabin, a place very near and dear to our hearts, in the Cameron Peak Forest Fire. For the past 32 years, our parents have spent countless hours building and working on what came to be their sacred place, where our dad could do his woodworking and our mom could enjoy her weekends with those she loves most. For years, this cabin was treated like a home, where family and friends were welcomed to build memories and enjoy quality time. This was their dream and they worked tirelessly to make it a home. We know it has come to mean a great deal to many of us, which is why we are hoping you can help support us in rebuilding by contributing to our GoFundMe page.
Our parents have always been incredibly generous, giving time, energy and love to everyone they come across. The cabin holds so many precious memories for those that visited and helped over the years, which has been evident in the outpouring of love and support they have received over the last couple of weeks. Many people have asked how they can help during this time and we felt a GoFundMe would be beneficial to ensure the possibility of a rebuild someday.
Though our parents attempted on several occasions, the cabin was uninsurable due to its proximity to a fire station. Consequently, our parents have been left with nothing. Besides the overwhelming sentimental value, the cabin had our parents also lost an abundance of other items. Outside, tools like a sawmill, tractor, chainsaws, were lost. Inside, furniture, family memorabilia, dishware, clothing, antiques, and a wood-burning stove were all lost in the fire.
We are looking for funding to get our parents on the road to a rebuild. Although this land and the cabin will never be truly replaced, a simple structure and all of your support will lift their spirits and get them back to the place they love. We are setting a goal of $20,000 to help put a downpayment on a yurt, pole barn, or something simple we can help them put together on their land.
There are so many people out there struggling, and our parents have a lot of perspective on the situation. They do not know we are putting this together, so we are hoping we can share with them closer to the holidays. We are hoping to spread the word to as many friends and family as possible.
Generosity, through the giving of time and energy, love, and compassion to all has been a deeply embedded value they have held onto. They taught us that relationships and giving to those during times of need are some of the most precious moments in life. The time has come where now, they need that same generosity in return. We thank you for any contribution you might be able to offer, as every little bit helps.
We have an amazing support system around us, and it means the world. We can not say thank you enough for holding our family in your thoughts, prayers, and efforts on this! We understand these are difficult times, so if you would like to support in other ways, a phone call, supporting their woodworking goals, or volunteering your time for clean-up/rebuild would make a huge difference!
Thank you all and God Bless,
Levi Moser, Melissa Jay, and our significant others Haleigh and John
