Help to finish Mosque Appeal Sierra Leone

MOSQUE APPEAL SIERRA LEONE /MONSONDO CHIEF KINGDOM UPDATE.

Salam walaikum my brothers and sisters in Islam.
We recently arrived back from rural Sierra Leone, having set out to build a school and a masjid.
Alhamdulillah we were able to finish the school and a womens sewing institution. (please see photos)
We were however unable to finish the mosque because we ran out of money.
We now only need £4000 to finish this project.

This is an appeal for £4000 to help rebuild the only mosque at Monsondo Chief Kingdom Bompeh/Sierra Leone 

The remoteness of these communities means that they are often neglected by the government and NGOs

The village mosque, as seen in the photos, is in dire need of repairs. The mud built mosque of sticks and straws presents a structural hazard and collapses frequently during the rainy season. 

In 2014 myself and a colleague set out to build a water well for the rural village of Monsondo Chief Kingdom Bompeh/Sierra Leone . Thanks to you and your generosity, the area can now provide safe drinking water, allowing children to spend more time in education instead of long, laborious journeys to fetch water from contaminated shallow wells.  (reference video).

We now need a further £4000 to help rebuild the only mosque in the village.

Our aim is to rebuild the mosque with solid bricks and to put a corrugated metal roof on so that we provide a safe place of worship for the community.

The Messenger of Allah (sws) said: “Whoever builds a mosque for the sake of Allah, like a sparrow’s nest or even smaller, Allah will build for him a house in Paradise.” (Ibn Majah)

A masjid is at the heart of any local Muslim community. It provides a place for its worshippers to pray and contemplate as well as being a hub for educational programmes and other everyday services. The role of the masjid is to help people learn more about Islam and to nurture their moral and spiritual development.
