Mother & Daughter Both Fighting Cancer Together

It’s not many times that cancer strikes both a mother and daughter twice, but that is exactly what Donna and Stacey are currently experiencing.  

 

In 1999, Stacey was diagnosed with a rare malignant central neurocytoma brain tumor. This led to numerous radiation treatments and surgery before she was later pronounced cancer free. Although she won that fight, the battle was apparently not over.   

 

It was recently discovered that a tumor has returned that is quickly diminishing her quality of life. Each day that passes takes away more of her memories and brings more struggles for not only Stacey, but also her family who is trying their best to take care of her as the severity of her symptoms increase.  

 

Stacey’s previous surgeon has now retired from practice, leaving only one surgeon in the state who has experience with the type of surgery that she requires. This surgeon is willing to perform the surgery which is great news; however, he does not accept her insurance. Her family is left frantically trying to get the necessary assistance as time is working against them.  

 

It is predicted that after surgery, Stacey may need further medical attention and changes to her living situation to better provide the long-term care that she needs.  

 

At this time Stacey’s mother, Donna, is her primary caregiver. Donna spends every moment of every day ensuring that Stacey is safe and has the best chance at a normal life after cancer, even though she, herself is fighting her own never-ending battle with the disease.  Donna is currently fighting her own battle with stage 4 Metastatic Cancer.

 

Anybody who knows Stacey and Donna knows that they would do anything for anybody. They would give a ride to somebody in need, provide a place to stay in times of trouble, offer a helping hand or a listening ear. It is now that we reach out help them in their time of need. It is hoped that we can help them with the medical expenses they will incur, help provide gas money as they navigate to and from the endless appointments, consultations, surgery and treatments and ultimately provide them a little peace of mind during this uncertain time.
