Mother Emanuel
Donation protected
Concieved by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj and Written by Rajendra Ramoon Maharaj, Adam Mace and Christian Lee Branch, Mother Emanuel will be making it's World Premiere at the 2016 New York International Fringe Festival.
Mother Emanuel is a musical play which presents an interpretation of the events that transpired at Mother Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on June 17, 2015. As we were not in the church that evening, the interpretation of their Bible Study is an homage to a specific religious experience. In the story telling, the piece travels through the past and present lives of these nine men and women.
Though Mother Emanuel was a labor of love, it was the only way that we, as theatre artists and activists, felt that we can do something in response to the horrific attack. We took our pain and frustration and used it to create a piece of art that pays homage and respect and keeps memory of those lost alive.
Producing this play is very important but not without cost. We are asking that you consider making a donation to this project. The funds provided will go into:
- The cost of the Festival
- The cost of our Press Agent who will carry our banner all over NY.
- Funds for our artists who have been giving their time in many forms
- The cost of other media outlets such as our newly launched website and paper print materials.
Stories like Mother Emanuel are vital to the American Theatre. Any contribution would be greatly appreciated.
