My name is Michael Thompson and I am the President of OBT Social, a social media platform designed to inform, encourage and uplift African Americans, continental Africans and African-descended people throughout the diaspora. The company is primarily self-funded with some help from friends and family. This Black History Month, we are honoring Mother Viola Ford Fletcher, the oldest living survivor of Black Wall Street, We have brought together more than 30 Black subject matter experts to discuss the past 3,000 years of our history as opposed to just the last 400. To see us as a people in our fullness is the only way for us to understand who we are.
We are also raising funds to help 108-year-old Mother Fletcher to purchase a home and to help offset the cost of taking 108-year-old Mother Viola Ford Fletcher and her 101-year-old brother Uncle Redd back to Ghana for a second time because they enjoyed it so much. Help us to make this happen again. Below is a photo of Mother Fletcher testifying before congress and video showing footage of the first trip to Ghana and then another photo of her watching a ceremony dedicated to her in Ghana.
This is a picture of Mother Fletcher in Ghana visiting Kings and Chiefs who had a performance arranged just for her. See how happy she looked? Let's make it happen again.
