Mother’s stolen vehicle rolled over I-195 interstate

My mother’s vehicle was stolen on Saturday, August 10th in broad daylight. A criminal by the name of Savalas Cigar approached my mother and my mentally disabled uncle who is also deaf and assaulted them with a hammer to steal her vehicle. Soon after the man began making purchases with her card.

My mother took it upon herself to drive around the streets looking for her car and had not slept in almost 3 days. We received a call on Monday afternoon stating they had arrested Cigar but we were unaware of the condition of the vehicle.

On Sunday August 11th the police spotted the stolen vehicle around Alton road and attempted to pull him over but he fled ensuing a high speed police chase that led to a vehicle rollover on interstate I-195 in Miami Beach. The man who assaulted her and destroyed her vehicle, is currently in jail.

My mother worked so hard to pay off her vehicle, which she finally did just two months ago. The vehicle contained personal belongings as well as work equipment that was not recovered because he sold them off. She did not have comprehensive collision insurance.

I created this gofund to help her replace her vehicle and some of the items that were not recovered. Anything you can do is highly appreciated, even if it’s just a share!!

UPDATE: New charges of Aggravated Assault with a Deadly Weapon and Armed Robbery have been added. He is currently being held at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center with a total bond of $15,150.00. Pending bond to be set for the Armed Robbery charges.

El vehículo de mi mama fue robado el sábado 10 de agosto a plena luz del día. Un delincuente llamado Savalas Cigar se acercó a mi mama Glenda Defas y a mi tío discapacitado mental, quien también es sordo, y los amenazó con un martillo para robarle el vehículo. Poco después, el hombre empezó a realizar compras con sus tarjetas.

Mi mamA se encargó de recorrer las calles buscando su auto y llevaba casi 3 días sin dormir.

El domingo 11 de agosto, la policía vio el vehículo robado en Alton Road e intentó detenerlo, pero huyó tras una persecución policial a alta velocidad que provocó que el vehículo volcara en la interestatal I-195 en Miami Beach. El hombre que la agredió destruyó su vehículo y puso en peligro la vida de otras personas, se encuentra actualmente detenido en el Centro Correccional Turner Guilford Knight.

Mi mama trabajó muy duro para pagar su vehículo, lo que finalmente hizo hace apenas dos meses. El vehículo contenía efectos personales, así como equipos de trabajo que no fueron recuperados porque los vendió. Ella no tenía en su póliza un seguro de colisión a todo riesgo, lo que significa que no estará cubierta por los daños causados por este delincuente.

Creé este Go Fund para ayudarla a reemplazar su vehículo y algunos de los artículos que no fueron recuperados.
