Let's Buy the Midwife a Motorcycle!
Tax deductible
International Women’s Day is Thursday, March 8. And that’s a pretty important day around Fancy. This year, we are proud to continue our support of Cocoa360 the organization that operates a tuition-free girls school and medical clinic whose operations are supported by cocoa plantations in Tarkwa Breman, Ghana.
Help us buy the local midwife a motorcycle so she can tend to her patients.
There are currently 319 maternal deaths and 4,100 infant deaths per 100,000 live births in Ghana. This number can be drastically reduced with better access to prenatal care, skilled birth attendants, and pediatric care.
And in a rural area like Tarkwa Breman , that care can sometimes be a day’s walk away. In late pregnancy, labor, or with a newborn that distance can be impossible. In those cases the care must go to the patient.
Fancy already sponsors the ongoing education of ten girls at the school and, after hearing about the need for better pre- and post-natal care in the area, we are raising money to buy a motorcycle for the clinic's nurse-midwife!
WITH YOUR HELP, WE WILL PROVIDE:
A motorcycle ($1,500)
2 helmets ($300)
A reflective vest ($30)
And as many medical kits as we can (gloves, swabs, alcohol pads, etc.)
Please join us in supporting better access to maternal and neonatal care with a tax-deductibe donation to Cocoa360, and help us help the midwife get where she’s got to go.
Vroom-vroom!
