Preserve Historic Mount Olivet Episcopal Church

Thank you for stopping by! We are the first Episcopal Congregation on the West Bank of the Mississippi River in New Orleans, LA.
We are a joyful community of faithful Christians with deep roots in the community of Algiers Point. Mount Olivet has been serving both God and neighbour since 1846.
Our church was damaged in an accident and needs extensive repair and renovation. The work involved in restoring a 150+ year-old historic building involves more expense than a typical insurance policy will cover. Currently, we are worshipping in our parish hall.
True to the spirit of New Orleans, Mount Olivet is a community of faith dedicated to welcoming everyone from every walk of life and extending hospitality to all. Our current outreach to the community consists of activities such as
- A regular collection for recycling glass into sand for coastal reclamation (currrently 1-2 pickup trucks per week!)
- A "pit-stop" location providing respite and refreshment during community-wide events such as Trick-or-Treating
- Regular collections of coats, socks, and other goods for those in need.
Your gift will allow us to return to worship in the Church so we can make better use of our parish hall by sharing its space and other resources with our community.
We are grateful for your generosity and pray for God’s blessing on you, your family, friends and loved ones.
