Mountain Club - Learning Through Service & Action
Donation protected
My name is Joaquin Martinez; I am a teacher at The Academy for Technology and the Classics in Santa Fe, NM. I have a group of 12 students from 7th through 12th grade who go out into the field to conduct cultural and environmental restoration for the greater good.
In the past few years, we have cleared trails with the Santa Fe National Forest, cleaned up polluted areas at Abiquiu Lake with The Army Corps of Engineers and built over 1,200 adobe bricks to help restore the Chimayo Plaza and its buildings. We recently traveled to Boulder, Colorado, to help victims of the devasting wildfire that destroyed over 1,000 homes.
Because we are from a small public school, we rely on donations to do this vital work. Each trip requires that we secure safe transportation and food for the kids. Since we do most of our work outdoors, we can camp and do not need funds for lodging.
These students are learning the power of compassion in action and seeing firsthand that the power of change and love is within them; they are the future leaders that we need, and I need your help in continuing to foster their growth and strength for a future that is peaceful and healthy. We are all doing our part.
Thank you for reading and for considering a donation to our worthy and admirable cause.
