Help Mountain Air replace MVCA equipment in Ruidoso!
Donation protected
This summer, Lincoln County and the Mescalero Apache Reservation experienced catastrophic fires and flooding, leading to severe loss for many families.1,400 structures burned along with countless homes flooding. Among those affected were three teachers and several students' families from Mountain View Christian Academy (MVCA), the only private Christian Academy in the area. MVCA relies heavily on community support, student enrollment, and donations from local small businesses like Mountain Air Cabins.
Mountain Air Cabins, owned by Alyx and Ryon Duncan, lost 7 cabins in the fire. On June 30th , a flash flood on Highway 70 washed away tables, chairs, several cars, and a food truck during a community event aimed at helping first responders. The flooding also left the remaining office of Mountain Air Cabins filled with mud and soot. The tables and chairs had been generously lent to Mountain Air for the event by MVCA.
The children in the area have had a traumatic, short summer, with many evacuated from school without a chance to say goodbye to their teachers and friends. With significant displacement and loss of income, 60% of the students might not return to school this year. Small businesses are struggling to stay afloat, making it difficult for the community to regain normalcy.
To help the children start the school year with enthusiasm, MVCA (and Mountain Air Cabins) is seeking donations to replace the lost tables and chairs. All contributions will go directly to the academy to support the students' return to a stable learning environment. This support is vital for helping students return to a normal school life after a stressful summer.
