Mountainettes' Porter Fund

Donation protected
The WVU Figure Skating Club was excited to begin a new journey in synchronized skating last season. The Mountainettes are currently the state’s only competitive synchronized ice skating team, based out of Morgantown, WV. We are a part of WVU Club Sports and the Mason Dixon Figure Skating Club, and train out of both the Morgantown Municipal Ice Arena and the South Charleston Memorial Ice Arena in South Charleston, WV. Last year, we made it all the way to a sectional championship in Estero, FL, and finished our season earning a silver medal in Hershey, PA. It was a fantastic first year for WVU in open collegiate synchro, but we have even bigger goals ahead.

The 23rd Annual Dr. Richard Porter Synchronized Skating Classic, held in Ann Arbor, MI, is the largest synchronized skating competition in the United States, welcoming even international teams. The Mountainettes have high hopes of attending Porter this year and competing on behalf of WVU. Our university had never been represented in synchronized skating before our team was founded in 2017, and after all of the progress that we accomplished in our first year, we hope we can keep expanding our program and reaching new milestones again this season by being the first to represent WVU at Porter, or any international scale skating competition.

Outside financial assistance is needed to fund our travel and practice ice expenses for this additional competition. Any support is greatly appreciated!
