Move Gurmeet from the Shelter into her own home..

Homelessness is a dark pit. Once you are in it it takes a village to get you out of it.

Homelessness for a single Indian woman with kids is a different unfathomable situation and it is spine-chilling to imagine ourselves in that situation.

Meet Gurmeet whose life turned upside down one day. She got a call from her husband from India saying that he was leaving his family and would not return to the US. No warning, nothing!

She lost her house and everything that once gave her a sense of familiarity and safety.

Within the first couple of weeks, she had to give up her then 16year old daughter to a family friend and moved into the Leesburg shelter, where she has been living for the last 9 months. Every day away from her daughter was a nightmare not only for her but even for her girl. With her limited education and work experience, she finally managed to get a job and then a few months later another and has been working and juggling 2 jobs with only one goal in mind - finding a way back to live with her daughter.

We met Gurmeet a few months ago through our Shelter Giving Program and one of our volunteers and have constantly offered to run a Gofundme for her, but she wanted to do this on her own.

But things are coming to a scary turn again. The Shelter is now asking her to move out and she finally agreed to receive our help so we can help her find a place to live.

We are eager to support her in starting her life all over again with the help of all of us - so her faith in goodness and community is restored.

The money raised will be used to make her upfront security deposit and cover initial expenses to set up a home and help with a purchase of a used car.
