Keeping Faith with the Kipphuts

Donation protected
Chris Kipphut was diagnosed with lymphoma in September of 2017.  He started his fight with cancer quietly as to not draw attention to himself.   However, after starting treatments in his home town of Charlotte, NC, he and his wife Jen came to realize  "We know it is love, support and prayers from all of you that will help us through this fight" and they began to share their story with the community asking for nothing other than love and prayers.  In April of 2018, Chris' cancer wasn't responding to the treatments he was receiving and he needed a more specialized team of doctors.  With this news, he and Jen made the extremely hard decision to move to Houston, Texas, leaving behind their twin boys with their parents from out of town. Once at M.D. Anderson, Chris started chemotherapy to prepare for a bone marrow transplant.  While waiting to find a match for Chis, this selfless family used their time and efforts to spread the word about becoming a bone marrow transplant donor and they raised $3.509 for Be The Match Foundation. The amazing doctors at M.D. Anderson did find a match for Chris and he received a transplant in May. As Chris started to respond to the transplant, they were able to fly their boys to TX to see their Dad, Jen was able to make a trip or two back to help her parents and in-laws. In late September, Chris' doctors cleared him to return to Charlotte where he would continue treatment. Chris came home in October for almost a week--only be met with a sudden relapse.  He was hospitalized in Charlotte until a room became available back at M.D. Anderson (he and Jen were so thankful he was able to leave the night before Hurricane Florence hit). Currently, he is still in Texas fighting not only his lymphoma but also a side effect from the first bone marrow transplant.  His team of doctors is trying different versions of chemotherapy to prepare his body for a second transplant, but he is having adverse reactions to the chemos.  He and Jen still remain unbelievably courageous and hopeful he will be able to complete this round of chemo and receive a new transplant.
