Move Mountains for the Fraziers
Donation protected
Matt Frazier, a parishioner of Saint Thomas More parish in Kansas City, MO, was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor on his cerebellum and brain stem in April 2017. Matt underwent partial resection in May 2017. Due to the brain tumor, Matt’s speech and ability to walk were severely impacted.
Due to multiple complications and severe meningitis, Matt was in the hospital for 5 months and underwent a total of 8 surgeries. He was able to come home with home health assistance in October 2017 for a couple of weeks before encountering another complication and going back to the hospital for a feeding tube placement. Matt has not returned home since that time and has been bouncing between skilled nursing and the hospital due to additional complications.
Once Matt stabilized, Matt’s wife, Adrienne, decided he needed a more specialized neuro rehabilitation facility. She felt it was Matt’s best chance to walk and talk again. Madonna Rehab Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska was the closest hope for Matt to accomplish these goals. He was admitted to Madonna in December 2017.
The doctors have not been able to treat the cancer itself since July 2017. Matt’s medical team was concerned that the chemo would jeopardize his healing from the meningitis…which still may be lingering. Fortunately, the last few scans have revealed that the tumor is inactive at this point.
Matt’s family is happy that he is now getting the rehab he needs and prays that he does not have further complications. Adrienne, his son, Drake, and family members take turns going back and forth from Kansas City to Lincoln, Nebraska to be with Matt for a few days at a time. He seems to be more motivated with family by his side.
Due to the new year with deductibles/out-of-pocket maximums to be met as well as travel/meal/lodging costs (there is no Ronald McDonald House or similar facility available in the Lincoln area), it is our Go Fund Me mission to assist the Fraziers with these additional expenses. Please consider making a donation toward this very worthy cause.
Matt’s family is so appreciative for the support that has been shown to them thus far. It is our hope that Matt will return home someday to be with his wife, young son, and dog again!
Please keep this family in your prayers. Your generosity is very much appreciated.
