Help Daily Groceries Recovery Fund

I hope this message finds you well and that you and your family remain safe.

Let us explain… Why We Need Your Help

We have had some significant challenges since the storm's eye-wall passed directly over our town last week.
Our internet was not fully operational from Friday morning around 8am until Sunday evening around 7pm This means we were not able to accept credit card payments. This has cost us somewhere between $10,000.00 to $13,000.00. While we do have insurance, the claims process is arduous and will never come close to replacing all of this much needed revenue.

In the toughest grocery market since pre-covid 2019, this is devastating to a small business in our position. Recovery from this extreme loss quickly will be nearly impossible - certainly improbable without your regular and continued support.

We are simply asking you to come shop with us, now and weekly, and maybe spend an extra $20.00. If you are further inspired, contribute to our go fund me.

Also, we are putting a collection area in place to send supplies purchased at our store to our neighbors in need of help.
Our grocery manager – Chas – is working hard to stock up on shelf stable items and case deals that will be available for purchase to send to affected areas.

I’d like to take a moment to remind everyone of the shared mission that drives our cooperative forward:

At the heart of what we do is the intentional sourcing of excellent, high-quality food. We believe that where our food comes from, how it’s grown, and who produces it matters deeply. We believe you should know where your food comes from.

We prioritize people, profit, and planet in our shared commitment to sustainability, ethical practices, and superior products. Supporting these ideals not only strengthens our connection to our food, but also keeps our local economy vibrant and helps to build a resilient food system that benefits our community.

Co-Ops contribute to local community charities on average at a level that is per capita 40% greater than its corporate counterparts.

Every purchase from our Co-Op contributes to a larger mission of supporting small, local businesses, reducing our environmental footprint, and focusing on the people in our community.

As the ONLY locally owned not-for-profit grocery store in the community, we work hard to bring you organic, naturally grown, and sustainably sourced products every day.

We've stocked up in every possible category and we are ready for you.

Every dollar you spend here stays local, supporting the farmers, makers, and artisans in our community.

If having a locally owned grocery and deli matters to you, if you value having access to ethically sourced food right in your neighborhood, we urge you to commit to putting us on your weekly calendar of places to shop and support.

You directly impact the future of the Co-Op and help to ensure we can keep serving this community.

So please, donate today to keep Daily Groceries Co-Op a part of the amazing fabric of our community for years to come, and by doing that, help Keep Athens Athens!
