Melu’s Movement

With the permission of Daniel, Melu’s Father, and organized by fellow students, this movement is in honor of Melu.

Melu was a quiet, beautiful sophomore at North Butler High School who touched many lives. Her love of music was seen in her dedication to choir, her involvement in the NB musical, and the Praise Team at her church. Much of her spare time was spent listening to Skillet and other Christian Rock. Through her participation in 4-H, she was able to share with others her love of animals, especially horses. She was a bright student on semester Honor Rolls and was recently inducted into National Honor Society for her outstanding academic achievements. As a friend, she was always supportive and encouraging. Melu made a point of complimenting others daily and never thought twice about giving of herself to others.  Always helpful and generous, she was a girl who loved teal, cowboy boots, and books. She will be missed by her family & friends, her fellow students & teachers, and also her church and community.

In response to Melu’s death, many are wishing to reach out to her family and also others who are suffering from loss and mental illness. Thereby, we began “Melu’s Movement” to raise funds that can be used throughout the coming months in various ways to honor Melu’s life, assist her family, and bring awareness to others. Additional hopes are that a speaker could be brought into our community that could help to pass along the message that there is always another way and there is always help. They could further bring information on the signs of self-harm and suicidal tendencies. Further, because of Melu’s deep love of horses, we would love to make a donation in her honor to a local organization that offers equine therapy to youth.

For those wishing to give, any amount is something. We appreciate your kindness and participation in Melu’s Movement.
