MOVEstream For Justice
Donation protected
UPDATE 6/1: We heard back from Minnesota Freedom Fund, and while they are so grateful that we raised money for their organization, they suggested we donate to another, as they have raised over 20 million dollars and think the funds would be better used elsewhere. They sent over a list of organizations working for justice around issues of policing and racism. We've decided we're going to split the donations evenly among The George Floyd Family Fund , the National Lawyers Guild and Black Visions Collective .
The George Floyd family will use our donations to pay for funeral and autopsy expenses, The National Lawyers Guild will use our donations to pay for council to represent protestors who we're detained unjustly and can't afford it. Black Visions Collective will use our donations towards powerful strategic campaigns, aimed to expand the power of Black people across the Twin Cities metro area and Minnesota.
We're keeping the link live! Thank you for helping us exceed our goal!
WHO WE ARE: In November 2014, David Howard and Joseph Dieuvil conceived MOVE, a “donation dance” party aimed at raising money for the less fortunate. Combining their love of music with a passion for assisting others, they wanted to begin a “MOVEment.” We create a space where all people, regardless of race, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, gender, or sexual orientation, would come together to enjoy music, dance and raise money to improve the world around us. We're based in Brooklyn, NY.
Once we receive the funds, we will be donating 100% of the proceeds split evenly between the above three charities.
_______________________________________
Tomorrow (May 30th) from 3-9pm we're hosting a DJ livestream charity event to raise money for a community in need. 100% of the proceeds donated will go towards Minnesota Freedom Fund. Their mission: to end discriminatory, coercive, and oppressive jailing. This fund will pay criminal bail for people in need. With our donations, we will directly help free protestors in Minnesota who have been wrongfully detained.
We wholeheartedly support the protestors fighting for justice for George Flynn, Amaud Arbery, Brionna Taylor and all of the other black and brown people who have died under racism.
