Moving Aid for Injured Kenn and John

Hello everyone,

Here is the objective of this fundraiser:

1. Help Kenn Smith and his husband John moved after a debilitating accident into accessible housing.

2. Pay for movers due to Kenn's neck and back injury because neither of them can lift and carry heavy boxes or furniture.

3. Cover first and last months rent, and damage deposit.

4. Help two community members find peace of mind.

Here is a more detailed accounting of what happened and what is needed.

About a month ago my friend Kenn, also known as Shai Stevens Dreams Sincere, took a fall and messed up his back pretty bad. He needed 3 cervical discs in his neck needed to be replaced and he has some damage on his coccyx and lower sacral vertebrae.

They currently live in a second floor walk up apartment and has been told that he and his partner John need to find a first floor or one floor home. With the damage Kenn has sustained and the extra shifts John has to pick up extra work where he can to support both of them. This means that they need help with moving into a new place.

Moving isn't cheap, so I set the goal high, since Kenn has to focus on recovering and definitely can't lift or move things. John is working as much as he physically can to try and afford the move. So they need help hiring professional movers to pack and move their home, but John also needs to locate a new home, while Kenn is in a short term acute care nursing facility for his PT. They have about 3 weeks to come up with the money to move. If more money is raised than needed for the move it will be applied to medical bills and to help them pay off debt.

So please help. She knows she hasn't always been the easiest to work with, and I think this accident has been able to put a lot in perspective so please pull together as a community and help these two to get up on their feet and establish a new home to start a new chapter.
