Moving Mountains with Michelle

Michelle was diagnosed in January 2018 with triple-negative breast cancer. Her tumors were poorly-differentiated invasive ductal carcinoma, Grade 3, Stage 2 with no lymph node involvement. TNBC does not contain receptors for hormones and this type of breast cancer is usually invasive and fast growing. This makes up for 10-20% of breast cancers; it's not as common and cannot be treated with hormone therapies. Treatment for TNBC is chemotherapy, surgery and radiation.

Luckily Michelle's chemotherapy treatment was effective, and shrunk the tumors completely. She just had a bi-lateral mastectomy and reconstructive surgery. Her last step will be 6 weeks of radiation, Monday-Friday -- 30 sessions in Zion, IL.

With the love and support of family, friends & community Michelle's spirits are up and she is a true inspiration to us all. 

But with that comes a lot of behind the scenes stress on the family both emotionally and financially. We are gathering together to try to absorb just a portion of the expenses, so the family can concentrate on Michelle's recovery.
