Help DDR Save a Historic Home and start-up an Art Centre

Hi, My name is Dawn Allen and I am raising funds to move a historic home from East Coulee, AB to Rosedale, AB in the beautiful Drumheller Valley by May 31, 2024.

This house is well loved but sadly was scheduled for demolition due to berm construction. A unique 2-story addition and the current location of the house makes this an expensive move; the potential loss of the beautiful home with all it's history has inspired me to use this building as a starting point for a business focused on creative arts.

I currently have 27 acres of land that I have been trying to develop into a Centre for the Arts. Using this house as a means to start my business was never in the plan, but it is a good plan. Imagine attending classes and events from a walk out basement in a historic home with a view of the badlands to inspire your work. Additionally, I will use the 2nd floor as a professional artist studio in hopes of creating noteworthy creations that many will enjoy.

I purchased the house for $1 and am financing this project through equity in my personal home. The YouTube video link above provides a full tour and history of this home.

All funds raised will be put into the business bank account and will go toward the building move and earthworks required to place this house on the existing land. If all goes to plan, the business will be up and running by August 2024 with the following purposes:

- Caretaker’s Residence

- Fine art and general creative classes/workshops

- Artist in Residence Program

- Indoor and Outdoor Events including music with event specific catering and alcohol

- Art Gallery and sales

- Seasonal outdoor artisan market

- Corporate Team Building and Workshops

- Short term residence for artists in residence and class/workshop attendees
