Moxie’s Medical Needs

Hey everyone,

We took in four foster kittens (3 from one litter and a single from another) all are around 6 weeks of age now and we got them at around 3-4 weeks old. One is disabled. From what we were told when she was born her umbilical cord was wrapped around her back foot and the mother chewed off the foot almost up to the knee. After consulting with a vet she will need an amputation to give her the best life and less medical issues in the future. This procedure can be expensive. We are hoping to raise the money needed for this surgery so she can have it early on and have a healthy and easier life with less complications. They are not from a rescue and we will be adopting them out once they are fixed. If the little girl who will only have three legs doesn’t find a home that is a right fit we will take her in indefinitely.

Why did we take them in if we are asking for help? Because we felt that we wanted to make sure she got the medical treatment she needs to live a great life. And with my husbands background as a vet tech we felt that we could provide the basics and love until they could find homes.

Also with this experience of bottle feeding the kittens our daughter has gained some skills of pretend play with her stuffed animals and feeding them a bottle, and also trying to gently brush the kittens and trying to share her toys with them as well.

We have received a verbal quote from the vet that will be doing the amputation which would be approximately $1,500 plus or minus $200. We are asking for $2,000 to also cover the surgery post op appointments and any extra medical needs. And if there is anything left it will go to covering her spay along with the other 3 kittens that will need to be spayed prior to adopting them out.

She has to be 2 pounds and she is just about

pound now so we will be setting up the surgery date once she’s close to that weight.
