Donation protected
- Hello, my name is Yelenis Chao and since December of last year and after multiple strokes I was diagnosed with Moyamoya syndrome . Had my 1st surgery oct 31 of this year and my second surgery is scheduled for December 19th . Thanks in advance for any help .All the help will be used for medical cost and therapy.
- Moyamoya disease is a rare, progressive cerebrovascular disorder caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain in an area called the basal ganglia. The name “moyamoya” means “puff of smoke” in Japanese and describes the look of the tangle of tiny vessels formed to compensate for the blockage.
- There is no curative treatment for moyamoya. However, supportive management may reduce the risk of complications, and imaging surveillance can help to identify patients who are at highest risk for future ischemic and hemorrhagic complications and would benefit from surgical revascularization.
