Emily Horne is the loving mother of two small children, and the amazing wife of Chuck. Emily is also recovering from a mastoidectomy that caused severe swelling of the brain, hearing loss, facial and eye paralysis. This is all related to Wegener's Vasculitis, a systemic disorder that she has battled privately for over ten years. While aspects of Wegener's can be treated, the autoimmune disease itself will always be a part of Emily and her family's life.
Surgery sucessfully removed infected bone from Emily's ear, but she remains in near constant pain from inflammation. Emily is also suffering from a painful leg ulcer that continues to grow and is treatment resistant. Emily has an indefinite period of treatment to try and push Wegener's into remission to try and alleviate any further damage to her beautiful self.
Emily and Chuck are super tough!!! But so are their medical bills. Emily has been treated and transported to multiple hospitals in the last several months.
Chuck has had to take time off from work (unpaid) and Emily is unable to work.
The Horne's have growing medical expenses, and we are reaching out to you, their friends and family for help.
While I haven't personally met Emily, Chuck has been a dear friend for over 25 years. We met at Lake Brantley High School, where we shared several friends and interests. It is this friendship that brings me to your inbox today. Everyone who receives this has a personal connection to Chuck, Emily or their little ones.
