In loving memory of Kai

This is one of the hardest things I’ve ever had to write. Saturday Sept 23rd, we tragically lost our precious Kai in a horrific drowning accident. I have been granted permission to start this fund on behalf of Kai’s mother Melodee Cruto, and her parents, Robert Hunter, and Bernadette Figueroa (Kai’s grandparents), as they are understandably distraught and too overwhelmed with grief to take the next steps in planning the unimaginable on their own. In speaking with the coroner, it has become evident that the costs for services ahead are substantial, one no parent plans for. We also anticipate Kai’s mother will need to take some time off of work to cope with the loss of her only child. This is every parent’s worst nightmare. Kai, you were the sweetest 4-year-old boy, Landon and Sammy’s best friend, and such a bright presence in everyone’s life, who should be here with us today. We love you so much Kai Kai! While we don’t have the answers as to the “why” we can imagine the road ahead will be exceedingly challenging for the family, knowing in the wake of this loss, theirs will never be the same. Any amount of contribution towards giving little Kai a proper goodbye, and his mother support during this difficult time, is immensely appreciated.
