We have been in Ukraine for a week readying the launch of a non-profit to benefit internally displaced Ukrainians. In the coming week we will travel north, east and south in the country to visits sites in support of an amazing Ukrainian relief organization that is providing vital assistance and relief services to thousands of internally displaced Ukrainians.
Vostok SOS USA is the sister organization to Vostok SOS which was founded in 2014 after the Russian invasion of the Donbas and Crimea. It was started by highly motivated people displaced from their homes by the conflict. The mission of Vostok SOS has expanded greatly with the full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February 2022. Vostok SOS has approximately 150 employees. Most of them are internally displaced.
Vostok SOS’ activities include:
Extracting disabled individuals from the front line
Evacuating busloads of people from areas under fire Psychological assistance, Legal aid, Operating and manning multiple hotlines, Documenting war crimes Setting up an operating refugee centers,
Collecting and distributing food in supply packages that will last two weeks to 6000 families a week
Collecting and distributing hygiene kits, medical equipment, generators, etc.
Setting up and operating women’s centers as safe spaces.
