Mr Hotchkiss' studio rebuild after snow collapse

Dik’s pottery studio completely collapsed under the historic heavy snow this year and is in dire need of a rebuild. This studio has been the epicenter of Dik's creativity for over 50 years. He has shared the studio with countless people over the years as he inspired and mentored the local artist community. Dik also uses his studio to give back to the community in so many ways including the creation of hundreds of bowls that have been donated year after year to the empty bowl charity event for the unhoused population of Nevada County.

Dik is truly an inspiration and mentor to so many. He has been a ceramics teacher at Nevada Union High School, Sierra College and Chico State University. He is a central leader in the local ceramics community and was a founding pioneer in creating the multi-chambered wood-fired kiln that he built 51 years ago with students and is still being fired today. In addition to his mentorship in ceramics, Mr. H has been a coach of track and field for decades helping youth at both the high school and university level train for their best. Dik has truly given so much to our community.

Due to the severity of the collapse, the studio needs a complete rebuild. The roof has completely fallen in. Please help us assist Dik in this time of need as he has given so much to our community over the years. Anything will help. Thank you so much for your generosity.
