Mr. Pickering's Retirement Dream
Donation protected
Dean Pickering worked as a caretaker in the Lethbridge School Division for over 25 years. His last post was as head caretaker at G.S. Lakie Middle School where he served the school community with enthusiasm and genuine care for 15 years. Dean would do anything for kids either directly or indirectly. If staying late to keep the school open, or setting up for different events made a child's experience at Lakie better, he would do it; no questions asked. "The Dean of Clean" was a corner stone on staff who embodied the FISH philosophy and he helped set the tone when it came to "Being There" and "Making Their Day". It's amazing how one person can truly make a difference, and Dean did that. Without fan fare or public recognition, Dean always went the extra mile to ensure that opportunities were realized to keep smiles on the faces of kids.
Being a caretaker in a school can be a daunting task that often goes under appreciated. In Dean's case, it definitely went under appreciated, and now, at his retirement, we can show him our true level of appreciation. Dean was an avid horseback rider and equestrian, but as he has gotten older it has been harder for him to continue that passion. However, he has found a new way to explore the great outdoors and continue his adventures. Dean has loved borrowing ATV's from friends to continue his outdoor pursuits. Our goal is to raise enough money to give him one of his own. To give him something that he made up for 10 fold over the years as a caretaker... to give him something that he would not be able to afford on his own... to give him something that says thanks!
Please help us make a moment for a man that truly went above and beyond. Help us make a moment that lets this man know his true value to the community. Help us make a moment that unequivocally says "thanks".
Thank you for your time and consideration. I can promise, your efforts won't go unappreciated.
