Mr. Pickles Emergency Medical Fund
Donation protected
Hello! I am writing to ask for help for a member of my family, Mister Pickles. Mister Pickles is our family cat but is primarily owned by my girlfriend, Christine. Christine came home from work in the hospital to find Pickles laying around (not a lazy cat) and not begging for food. She made a vet appointment, but later in the day, she noticed blood coming from his urethra and increasing lethargy, so she rushed him to the emergency vet for treatment. The vet told her that Pickles was lucky she noticed so soon. These obstructions are fatal if not caught early. The treatment (so far) is emergency surgery and a multiple-day hospitalization is projected. So far, she has put out $3000 on her credit card and it could be more depending on how this visit goes. Pickles is only one year old and I know she will do anything to save him. He is one amazing, ridiculous cat.
As many of you know, Christine is someone who will always help others and has taken on the emotional, physical and financial responsibility for many animals. She has fostered and found homes for numerous cats, dogs and has a chronically ill horse that she adopted 14 years ago (he's still kicking). She is the kind of person who will always treat her friends when they need it, donates money to charities and lends a helping hand whenever she can. She canceled her own root canal appointment to get Pickles into surgery today. Pickles is special and his mom (my girlfriend) is too. Any help is appreciated, prayers and "good vibes" are welcome too. Thank you - JB
UPDATE: Pickles had a rough night. He got diarrhea and they had to pull his catheter out to avoid contamination. He immediately blocked again and required a larger catheter to be placed. The animal hospital is now recommending surgery to shorten his urethra. We have decided to move forward with the surgery. Pickles is too young to say goodbye. This should prevent him from ever having a blockage again, which is good. But expensive. We appreciate the help so far but are increasing the amount now to cover this new surgery. THANK YOU!
7/16/23- Update: PICKLES IS HOME!!! Still plenty of post op care to do and lots of resting. But we are SO grateful for the support thus far. Thank you all! - Christine
7/23/23- Update: Thank you all who have donated so far. Pickles might not be here without you. He is recovering well so far. He spends most of his time in his crate and the rest confined to the bedroom. He has a followup appointment to have his stitches removed on August 1st. Thank you again!
